The Adams Class Veterans Association is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization.

Our Mission

    • Work with all Adams class groups and organizations to Save, Restore and Preserve the USS Charles F. Adams DDG-2;
    • Educate the public on the rich naval heritage of the Adams class DDG ships;
    • Document the roles of Adams class DDG ships in United States history;
  • Show the importance of preserving historic naval vessels and memorabilia for future generations to appreciate.

Since 2007, the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association (JHNSA) has worked tirelessly to bring the former USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2) back to Jacksonville as Florida’s first naval ship museum.

The ADAMS played a key role in our Navy’s history and was stationed in Mayport for 21 of her 30 years of service life. She is the last surviving ship of the Adams Class guided missile destroyers and was the first guided missile destroyer built from the keel up by the U.S. Navy as a guided missile ship. This heralded a new age of U.S. Navy ships with advanced guided missile weapons systems. The ADAMS revolutionized naval warfare from two aspects, anti-air warfare and anti-submarine warfare.

This group is working to acquire USS Charles F. Adams.
