Russell Booth

Ship’s Manager, USS Pampanito

Russell Booth was ship’s manager at USS Pampanito for nearly 15 years, dedicating his life to helping people understand how these amazing vessels worked, telling the story of the amazing record Pampanito and her US Navy sister submarines achieved during World War II and most important, to preserving the memory of the men who served aboard these undersea marvels of technology, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Russell possessed the unique ability to talk with World War Two submarine marine sailors and have them to share their wartime experiences with him, stories he was able to pass on to others, particularly young USS Pampanito visitors who had never before seen a submarine.

Russell Booth set an enduring standard for submarine museum ship maintenance and preservation, was highly respected by HNSA Fleet members; serving a term as president of The Historic Naval Ships Association.
