The Battleship TEXAS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to assist ongoing preservation and educational efforts aboard the Battleship TEXAS in partnership with Texas Parks & Wildlife. Established in 1998, the Foundation works to help develop the historic ship into a premier, hands-on museum and visitor attraction. It provides financial support to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to enhance the site surrounding the ship, including an On-Shore Interpretive Center and Dry Berthing to prevent the constant corrosion to the ship’s hull and reduce long-term costs for maintenance and repair. It supports the restoration efforts of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the First Texas Volunteers; operates and organizes educational tours, such as the Overnight Program; increases public awareness of the USS Texas history as well as her current and future preservation needs; and assists in sustaining an active veterans’ affairs program.
