National Maritime Alliance

The National Maritime Alliance was established in 1988 as a non-profit organization to promote America’s maritime heritage. The Alliance serves as an umbrella organization to represent the interests of all segments of the maritime heritage community. A principal goal is to bring together members of that community to work toward the shared objective of increased public support for America’s maritime heritage. It led the effort to create the National Maritime Heritage Act (1994). Advocacy efforts recently secured $9.5 million for the national maritime heritage grant program provided for in the Act, and administered by the National Park Service. The Maritime Heritage Conferences are organized by the National Maritime Alliance and partners.
